President Jinhye Jo will be speaking about her family’s tragic experiences when they fled North Korea and her passionate work helping all North Koreans escape the brutality of the North Korean regime. Her talk is part of the TEDxLakeArtemesia event “Swim Against the Current,” which highlights that through some combination of perseverance, risk-taking, and a willingness to learn and teach, great ideas can be formed. TED is a nonprofit devoted to spreading ideas and TEDx focuses on communities.

The event is at the Kay Theatre in the Clarice Smith Performing Arts Center at the University of Maryland College Park.
